I seriously, seriously didn’t think I’d write something like this.
I’m not the type to ask for donations, but I really need to. I’ve set up aKo-Fi page for the collaboration unit with my sister Izeda Datori (the Aethereal World).
Developing our projects is the reason, yes, but the major reason for setting the page up is that we have to continue our studies, feed ourselves, and pay for our living quarters. It’s been months since we’ve moved away from home, and we haven’t saved enough for college (me) and senior high school (my sister) because of various bills to pay. I want to help my parents out, too. They’re supposed to be retired by their age, but we’re still too young and inexperienced to be able to work, and they’re still working so hard.
I also decided to open limited commissions (I closed it before due to time constraints, but since I’ve been able to come back home every weekend to face my computer, I figured I could). Limited - if the person who’s interested in commissioning me is fine with any possible work lag or slow production (since I could only work on digital illustrations during weekends).
Our Patreonis also open for support, though the rewards stated have changed from something grand to something simple (because, again, of our schedules).
I’m not forcing anybody to support us (I actually feel bad for writing this aaaaaaa–), but if you could, it is greatly appreciated. Even sharing this post (signal boost) is helpful, too. For every donation, you could get a small drawing request from both of us (conditions apply - not explicit or blasphemous).
It’s been so long since my last digital illustration. I think I’m rusting, and my backgrounds have become so sloppy. I need more practise.
I was supposed to draw this as just a doodle with flat colours, but I ended up doing a detailed one just because I wanted to do something detailed again- even though it’s rushed, and even though I’m not confident with the outcome.
But I’m quite satisfied with how Aldrich looks here, hahaha.
“arent u a bit too obsessed with that thing?” listen my buddy my guy i dont know how 2 just like smth a moderate amount …… i am being swallowed whole and alive by the Burning Fire of my Obsession™,,,, my pal u are incorrect im no such thing as “a bit” obsessed i am ….. on fire and can talk of nothing else ,,,,, friend,
I figured that since I can now do rain animation using Adobe After Effects, I should be able to do a lightning strike, too. So here is a practise piece. Not too striking (heheh, get it?), but it could improve once I know how to do it better.
Alongside that thought of wanting to practise using AE, I tried doing a painterly piece again, trying out values. I found it hard to work first on monochrome, but I might try sticking to this sort of method since I had fun doing it.
With that, I thought of doing an environment study for the fictional setting of one of our stories. So ta-dah!
wheezes at all the practises I did in one go for this piece
(via Justin Jorgensen) “In 2007 I worked with photographers Williams + Hirakawa to create a concept piece of me sleeping on a sheet cake. I though these cakes looked like pillows, and there’s the obvious play on ‘sweet dreams.’
I wondered if I could fall asleep on a cake and have sweet dreams. I didn’t. It was pretty gross really and wasn’t easy to wash off.
A few years later, outtakes from the shoot were sold to Getty Images as stock photos. I didn’t know this until 2011 when one of those photos made #13 on the wildly popular Buzzffed.com list of “60 Completely Unusable Stock Photos.”
Into 2014, the Getty Image photo continues to make the rounds on Facebook and Tumblr.”
i can’t believe i leveled up enough to unlock cake pillow guy’s backstory
